Special Assembly on 24 June 2019

A special assembly was held on Monday morning with regard to the recent incidents arising from the government’s proposed extradition bill.

The Principal Mr. Dennis Yuen began the assembly by reading out a poem entitled “A Poison Tree” by William Blake. Focussing on two pertinent messages conveyed in the poem, Mr. Yuen reminded the students that they should neither let their perceptions cloud their judgment nor allow their feelings of resentment to get the better of themselves. His speech ended with a call to action, urging all Paulines to ‘guard their hearts’ (Proverbs 4:23) so that together they can help make Hong Kong a ‘nurturing and nourishing tree of life’.

The assembly closed with the Reverend Ip Kam Fai, Vicar of St. Stephen’s Church, leading the school to pray for peace and justice in Hong Kong.
