Overall Second Runner-up in 48^th Joint School Science Exhibition

The JSSE was held at the Exhibition Gallery of Hong Kong Central Library from 19th to 23rd August, 2015. The theme for this year was “Seasons”. Our project, which was entitled “A Cell = Infinite Energy Source”, was awarded the Overall Second Runner-up.

Our school representatives displayed and demonstrated a self-designed fuel cell that could generate electricity at low cost and without environmental risks. In our model, the green alga, Chlamydomonas is used, which produces both hydrogen and oxygen gases. With the chemical reactions at the electrodes of the cell, and with the use of a proton exchange membrane, an electric current is generated.

The four project holders were Ho Chun Ning Gene (5F), Lau Chun Hei Jason (5E), Lee Jak Fung (4C) and Wong Wing Yin Samuel (4C). While we congratulate them on their achievement, the project holders themselves would like to thank all teachers and laboratory technicians who assisted in their project and visited their booth to vote for them.
