Tristan Lau (5E) - Hong Kong Outstanding Students Award 2014-2015

“Shoot for the moon, even if you missed, you’ll land among the stars” - Tristan Lau Chun Shing (Form 5E) -

It is my greatest honor to be one of the ten recipients of the Hong Kong Outstanding Students Award 2014-2015. The journey has taken almost six months from submitting the application to attending the Award Ceremony. The first challenge was the written assessment which included questions like “Why do people cook watercress soup in hot water, but not cold?” The second round of assessment for the 50 finalists was to participate in a ‘3-Day Assessment Camp’. Having successfully passed out the camp, I was enlisted for the panel interview that limited to the top 20 finalists. The panel interview was an indelible experience as the adjudicators were renowned leaders from various sectors in Hong Kong, including the Vice Chancellor of CUHK Professor Joseph Sung, the former Commissioner of ICAC Mr. Francis Lee and the former Secretary for Education and Manpower Mrs. Helen Yu. With the full support of teachers, parents and friends, I was selected to be the top 10 outstanding students of the year. This is the first time ever for Paulines to be on the list and I strongly believe that there are more rising Paulines who also deserve the title.
