A Celebrated Return to English Debate Grand Final

For the first time in a decade, the College English Debate Team proudly advanced to the Grand Final of the 40th Sing Tao Debating Competition, standing out among 64 participating schools.

The final match against HKBUAS Wong Kam Fai Secondary School was held in Queen Elizabeth Stadium on 7 May. It was closely contested, and our team delivered an impressive performance to secure second place.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our grand finalists:
Captain: Shiu Chun Fai Alson (6C)
1st Speaker: Yeh Ka Hei Jeremy (5B)
2nd Speaker: Wong Pak Yin Jacky (4B)
Floor Speakers: Wong Kin On Christopher (6F), Lau Yiu Fung Wyatt (5E), and Tse Shing Yau Samuel (4B)
Standby Debater and Floor Speaker: Liang Yuezhe (6E)

Over 100 members of our school community — including College Councillor, Mr. Alan Chiu, Principal Mr. Dennis Yuen, Primary School Headmaster, Mr. Michael Mak, teachers, parents, alumni, and students — attended in support, offering a tremendous boost to our debaters’ confidence.

Their presence spoke volumes about the spirit of our school – a truly supportive and encouraging community that extends far beyond the brotherhood among Paulines.

We offer our sincere thanks to all who took the time to be with us. Your company made a lasting impact. We were deeply impressed by our grand finalists, as well as the entire team of debaters and researchers, for their tireless effort and unwavering commitment throughout the six rounds of the tournament.

The College is incredibly proud of the English Debate Team’s achievement. We have every confidence that they will return next year to deliver an even stronger performance.
