On 3 September, Mr. Ivan Ma, the person in charge of the programme, visited St. Paul’s College with more than 10 social workers and student leaders from The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). This programme was co-organized by the SEN Team and the Discipline Team for Form 1 students.
At the start of the programme, the EdUHK host played a warm-up game to engage students with the topic of bullying. He then showed educational videos to introduce bullying in the school context. One of the videos outlined the relationship between Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and bullying and highlighted the inclusivity of students with special educational needs (SEN). Students were then divided into groups, and with the guidance of student leaders, they discussed how to stop bullying, accept the vulnerabilities of others, and build positive relationships with peers. Most importantly, the concept of empathy was learned in this session.
Student helpers also set up around 10 game booths related to bullying and ASD. The students participated in games to reinforce their learning from previous discussions. These booths provided not only a fun learning experience outside of the classroom but also an opportunity for students to build their social skills. The programme helped create a more inclusive learning environment in junior forms.
