Graduation Ceremony - Class of 2019

On 18th December, 2019, in a departure from tradition, St Paul's College held its first daytime graduation ceremony in living memory. Thanks to parents, family members, students and College Council members for coming along this morning. It was fitting to have the ceremony in daytime as this was a very bright class indeed!

The lively and engaging commencement talk was given by College Fundraising Committee Chairman and former Chairman of the St. Paul's College Council, Dr Ian Chan. In a few short minutes, Dr Chan told the life stories of two very different classmates of his from his school days to illustrate to our graduates that, through hard work, everyone can succeed. He concluded his speech with the four watchwords of the College: Justice, Honour, Truth and Virtue, as a reminder for Class of 2019 what values they should hold on to throughout their lives. We were also delighted to have Mrs Chan to present the prizes. She was later presented with a bouquet of flowers by Student of the Year, Wong Hon Yin, Edward. We were also especially pleased to have Dr Arnold Cheng present the Long Service Plaques, and Bishop Emeritus Dr Soo Yee Po, Thomas, to give the blessing. Other special guests included Mr Alexander Kwan, Mr Alan Chiu and Mr Francis Hon.

Apart from the graduates, we also celebrated seven teachers who have given 20, 30, and 35 years of continuous service. The teachers honoured at the ceremony were:

20 Years of Service
The Principal, Mr Dennis YUEN
Miss CHAN Pui Sze, Mandy
Miss CHAN Yik Shan, Janice
Miss CHAN Yue Lan, Sucraina, our Laboratory Technician

30 Years of Service
Mr AU YEUNG Kwok Chor
Mrs LAM Wai Ping, Peggy

35 Years of Service
Mrs CHUNG Yuen Har, our Vice-Principal.

We were immensely grateful to these dedicated teachers and staff, whose commitment and devotion have ensured the continued academic success of our students.

Many of the attendees stayed on to enjoy a lavish refreshments buffet, and then remained to watch the annual Principal's Cup Basketball Match, featuring alumni vs staff.

All in all, the 2019 Graduation Ceremony was successfully held with a strong sense of St. Paul's spirit permeating the event!
